In the cell and gene therapies world, RxMD have developed a very credible scientific, translational and development understanding. It is a pleasure to commend RxMD to any pharmaceutical company, large or small, that is in need of additional medical support in pursuit of its clinical research objectives. When I was serving as VP and Group Leader for the Virology & Transplant Pharma Development group at Roche Pharmaceuticals, we employed a large group of internal physicians and other scientists on a portfolio of nearly 20 projects. This was, however, not enough manpower to accomplish all the tasks that were required to keep projects on their timelines, especially during periods of peak activity.
I remember incorporating Dr. Vis Niranjan into our group as the point person from RxMD, who assured that we had the extra assistance we needed with a variety of clinical development activities to get us through our most challenging times. He was extremely professional and reliable, very easy to work with, and able to integrate himself seamlessly onto our teams. Vis stayed with the group for about 14 years, up to the time when plans for the closure of the Roche Nutley campus were announced. Vis and RxMD supported the group on many projects over the years, most notably Tamiflu, Fuzeon and Pegasys, which together have made an indelible mark on the treatment of the virologic illnesses of influenza, HIV/AIDS, and viral hepatitis, respectively. I remain grateful to this day to Vis and RxMD for the tremendous contributions they made to the development of important medicines that have impacted the lives of millions of patients.
This project could not have been done without your expert knowledge of pediatrics and, more importantly, PK/PD. I want to stress this aspect since over the course of my 20+ year industry career rarely have I seen a perfect blend of medicine and PK/PD. You epitomize how pharmaceutical drug development physicians ought to be.
